1.Things have turned out badly. My husband died and the greedy Romans demanded my lands as taxes. When I refused they tied me and my daughters to a post and beat us in front of my people. I am a Queen and they have no right to do this. I will fight back! My people will help me. I will raise an army and march on this new Roman town at Colchester and destroy it. We need to teach these Romans a lesson. 2.Did you hear what they did to our Queen? They beat her and her daughters because they didn’t wantto pay their taxes. I am only a farmer but I can fight. If the Queen wants my help she can count on me and I know there will be thousands like me ready to help. I hear the Queen is planning to march on Colchester and frighten these Romans. 3. I tell you being a Roman Governor is a hard job. After months of trying to organize this province, raising taxes building towns and roads here I am in Wales fighting against more savages. I have told my soldiers to give them no mercy. Things should be fine back in the province, although I hear that the old king of the Iceni is dead. He was all right, for a Celt, kept the peace and gave us no trouble. I do not think his wife will be a problem. 4.I joined the army in Rome. For months over here all I did was march, drill and build roads. I’m tired. Still I suppose it keeps us trained, that is why we are so good. At least things are more exciting now that we are in Wales .It should not take long to solve the problem here then we will be back in Colchester. I am going to marry a nice girl I met there. She is the daughter of a Roman merchant. I want to go back to Rome.

Soldier: I am here in the name of the Roman Governor Suetonius. Boudicca: What’s wrong again! Soldier: Why haven’t you paid taxes yet? Boudicca: Because the Governor has raised them? Soldier: But the old king of the Iceni paid the taxes gave us no problem. Boudicca: Now my people are tired of the taxes and they will not pay. Soldier: Then give up your throne and get away from the land you live. We shall take the land as taxes. Boudicca: You can’t do that! It’s not fair! We shall fight!
