My Teaching Experience

Teaching experience during studying at the university provides the opportunity for student teachers to put into practice what they have learned and know what they should still learn.

Teaching experience is a compulsory component of all teacher education programmes.

I’d like to tell you about my first teaching experience. I spent six weeks in a secondary school, observing, planning and teaching lessons, marking work, talking with teachers and working with small groups of pupils.

I had no experience of classroom teaching before this practice, so I was more than a little worried.

After the first lesson I realized that everything could appear not so bad.

As the quarter went by I found teaching more and more easygoing. All I had to do was to go to the class and give lessons.

Each teacher can recount numerous highs and lows in their teaching career. Personally, I experienced many great moments while teaching.

On the other hand, I had days where I definitely questioned teaching as my future career.

I learned a lot about teaching after this practice. In my opinion, teaching is like a performing art.

This experience changed my imagination of teaching profession. I realized a lot of important thoughts.

Students are people who have feelings and who don't want to feel cornered.

The problem I faced was that I spent so much time thinking about teaching I didn’t do much thinking about the learning and as a result I passed my practice with good but not great feedback

I have learnt to adopt a positive attitude towards all my students.

I have left my first teaching practice with experience, knowledge, inspiration and determination to do better. I hope I made at least a small contribution to the students’ learning.
