The National Gallery The National Gallery is one of the best picture galleries of the world. Each day many tourists visit this fine building with tall columns.
St. Paul’s Cathedral is one of the greatest churches in England. It was built in the 17th century by Sir Christopher Wren. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers.
Big Ben is the name of the clock and the bell of the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. You can hear the sound of Big Ben every hour in London.
Tower Bridge It is the most well-known bridge in the world. This bridge was built in 1894. from the upper part of the bridge one can enjoy the wonderful view of London.
The Tower of London was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King’s Zoo. Now it is a museum. You can see a lot of interesting things in the hall of this Tower. It was built in the eleventh century.
Westminster Abbey is one of the most famous English churches. Here there is the Poet’s Corner where famous poets and writers are buried , for example Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling.
Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the Queen of England. Behind the palace you can see the huge garden. Inside the palace and the garden there are many objects of art.
The Houses of Parliament This building is the seat of the English Parliament. It was built in 1042.
London Eye began its work in January 2000. it has become a very popular London attraction. From the Eye one can see Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral and many other places.
The British Museum is one of the largest museums in the world. It shows the works that tells us about the history of people from prehistoric times till present day. Every day many people visit it. The British Museum has a great library with the largest collection of books and manuscripts.
Oxford Street Oxford Street is London’s main shopping centre. You can buy clothes, shoes and toys in it. People from all over the world shop in Oxford Street
Piccadilly Circus The Circus was created by John Nash as part of the future King George IV's plan to connect Carlton House - where the Prince Regent lived- with Regent's Park.
The Globe Theatre The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company, and was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. The second Globe Theatre was built on the same site by June 1614 and closed in 1642. A modern reconstruction of the Globe, named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997.
The Thames is the deepest river of the country. The capital of the UK stands on the River Thames.
Hyde Park is the largest park in London. It is one of the most popular places of Londoners on hot summer days.
St. James's Park St. James's Park is a 23 hectare park in Westminster, central London. It is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London. St. James's Park is surrounded by Buckingham Palace , St. James's Palace , Horse Guards. The park has a small lake, St. James's Park Lake, with two islands, Duck Island and West Island. A bridge across the lake affords a view of Buckingham Palace.
Regents’ Park Regent's Park is one of the Royal Parks of London. Regent's Park is the largest grass area for sports in Central London and offers a wide variety of activities, as well as an Open Air Theatre, the London Zoo and many cafes and restaurants.
London Zoo is the world's oldest scientific zoo. It was opened in London on April 27, 1828, and was intended used as a collection for scientific study. It was opened to the public in 1847. Today it houses a collection of 755 species of animals, making it one of the largest collections in the United Kingdom.
