Kuїndzhі Arkhip Ivanovych

Kuїndzhі Arkhip Ivanovych — outstanding Ukrainian and Russian landscape painter of Greek origin, teacher.

Born in Mariupol in the family of a poor shoemaker. Early left without parents and lived in great poverty. Studied painting mainly independently.

The impact on the viewer paintings Kuinji was so strong that the artist began to suspect to use, as we would say, "special effects". Said that he paints nature through colored glass and even composed the legend of the "lunar" paints with which supposedly can portray moonlight, was particularly good master.
