English painter and graphic artist. He had started with sketches of his native county, Suffolk, when he was 10 years old. In 1740 he moved to London and was taught painting by the famous French graphic, Hubert Gravlo.
In 1745 his own studio was opened.
In 1745 Thomas Gainsborough married Margaret Barr. They had two daughters.
The painter`s masterpieces were presented in The Royal Academy of Arts with a success. He had a gift to reproduce the likeness of the models and their mood.
You can find his paintings in the most famous museums and art galleries ot the world: the Hermitage Museum, the National Gallery of Edinburgh, in London and Washington and in the Louvre.
These are his last works.
